An old proverb goes this way, “Face is the index of the mind”. Yes of course, when we are sad our face stays dull and when we are happy our face reflects our happiness. Likewise our tongue also reflects our heart. We speak what we have in our heart. The bible says, “You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. (Mathew 12:34).”
Our mouth speaks out of the overflow of the heart. When we go through tough time and when we become stressed, we used to curse others or we speak against others for our tough time. Yes, as a human being we go through tough times. Even Jesus Christ went through so many tough times. People spit on Him, they slapped Him, they criticized Him and they pierced Him with nails. But Jesus Christ didn’t speak anything wrong about them. Instead He prayed to the Father to forgive them.
Devil tempted Jesus and asked Him to command the stones to become bread. But Jesus was very careful and He knew what He should speak. He said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’ (Mathew 4:4)” and by this He overcame the devil. Remember, the devil catches you at your word. Devil brings tough situations to catch you by your words so that he can easily understand your heart. And the devil will attack you with your words. Our words are always a clue to devil, if you praise God with your words the devil will not come to you. If you say something wrong with words, from that moment devil will try to pull you away from God. So Jesus Christ was careful at his words. If you look at the life of Jesus He stayed silent in many places.
